You might have heard similar stories – the waitress dropped a glass full of water on it , I jumped in the pool with the phone in my pocket, I accidentally dropped it in the bath tub, My phone couldn’t resist the rain. Your phone warranty doesn’t cover damage caused due to water or you might not have a cellphone insurance. Don’t look down your noses and be upset. There are ways you can revive your wet old buddy back. You can either use a Napkin or Rice and in majority cases, it works!
- Firstly, take your phone out of the water as soon has possible. Charging holes, USB ports or even if the plastic cover is tight enough, it hardly takes any time for water to penetrate in and make it useless. Switch the phone off immediately.
- Quickly grab some paper or towel or cloth piece to lay on.
- After doing so, make sure to remove the battery. Also remove the sim card because there may be valuable contacts stored in your sim memory and may be more valuable then the phone itself. Remove all other peripherals such as ear buds, memory cards, as well as any phone cases or protective covers.
- With the battery and other things safely set aside, you now have one goal–dry your phone, and dry it fast. If you let the moisture evaporate naturally, the chance of corrosion damaging the phone’s innards increases. Instead, blow or suck the water out, you can also use a towel or a soft rag. But don’t use a hair dryer–its heat can fry your phone’s insides. Instead, opt for a can of compressed air, an air compressor set to a low psi or a vacuum cleaner (a wet/dry Shop-Vac would be perfect). The idea is to use air to push or pull moisture out through the same channels it entered.
- Put your phone on a sunny spot to help the phone get rid of any water in very small places. You may also consider most convenient choice of keeping the phone submerged in uncooked rice or silica gel. To wick away any leftover moisture, just leave the phone (and its disconnected battery) submerged in a bowl of grains overnight.
- Test your phone. Plug it into its charger without the battery if your phone is completely dried out, but still does not work. If this works, you will probably need a new battery. Take your cell phone to an authorized dealer and get it checked.
Following these tips, there’s a good chance your phone could survive its untimely spill. Be quick and you could save a lot of money on your phone and more importantly crucial data with respect to your memory card or sim card.
